REGISTRATION, EDUCATION, & EXPERIENCE
I am a Registered Social Worker (#838414) and Psychotherapist with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers with 11 years of experience in social services. I’ve earned my Bachelor of Social Work at McMaster University and my Master of Social Work with the University of Toronto with a specialization in mental health.
As a Social Worker, I began my career supporting individuals with complex mental health needs including homelessness, disability, and substance use in community mental health services. Through my work, I gained hands-on experience managing those experiencing mental health crisis, providing counselling and support, mental health first aid and suicide intervention.
As a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist, I take an integrative approach to therapy drawing from formal training in protocols including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Emotion- Focused Therapy (EFT). My clinical experience includes providing DBT and mindfulness-based skills in psychiatric outpatient mental health care, where I facilitated therapeutic groups and supported individuals in developing practical strategies for emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and overall well-being.
The Stories That Shape Us
We all carry a “story” in our heads- the beliefs we hold about ourselves, other people, and our experiences. Have you ever stopped to consider: Where did I learn this story? And is it still serving me? This may sound like:
“People can’t be trusted.”
“I’m too much for people..”
“I can handle it myself.”
“Something bad is going to happen.”
“If they left me, I must not be good enough.”
These beliefs we carry shape how we move through the world- the choices we make, how effectively we cope, how we navigate relationships, and how we relate to ourselves.
Our work together is not about thinking positively. It’s about becoming curious about the story: Where did it come from? What experiences shaped it? Who’s voice has shaped it? What has it taught you about yourself and others? And is there another way of understanding your story that feels more compassionate, flexible, and true to who you are today?
“Sometimes trauma returns as a Reaction, not a Memory”
When working with trauma and childhood wounds, my holistic, well-rounded approach treats not only the ways trauma affects our mind, but also our bodies. I use creative approaches that help my clients build awareness & physical coping skills to heal their nervous system in and outside of the therapy room.
“When we don’t feel safe in our bodies, we live in our heads”
Our histories, traumas, and emotional wounds profoundly shape our sense of self and worldview. I recognize how trauma influences our thoughts and beliefs, emotional reactions, and our nervous system. My client-centered, holistic and integrative approach draws on multiple frameworks to heal the deep impacts of trauma and aims to develop new meanings, beliefs, and coping skills.
I believe our traumas and histories do not have to bookmark our story but can be used to rebuild a sense of meaning and purpose that allow us to live the life we desire.
"It is not our differences that divide us. It is our inability to recognize, accept, and celebrate those differences."
As a social worker, I’m dedicated to recognizing and addressing power imbalances and systemic inequalities in our society through our therapy work. My aim is to ensure therapy is inclusive, respectful, and sensitive to your unique experiences, creating a supportive environment of advocacy where you can heal and flourish. I strive to provide a safe space where you feel empowered and understood, while also acknowledging the various forms of oppression impacting your life including racial inequity, xenophobia, sexual or gender-based violence, and ongoing effects of colonialism.
