"Trauma shapes the stories we tell ourselves about who we are, what we deserve, and what we must do to feel safe"
Our histories, families, traumas, and emotional wounds profoundly shape our sense of self and worldview. Our experiences of pain, fear, and suffering that goes unnoticed can shape how we think, what we believe, and the stories we tell ourselves everyday.
“I’m not good enough”
“I can handle it myself..”
“I’m too much for people”
“Nothing ever goes right for me..”
“People can’t be trusted”
By taking an integrative, trauma-centered, and narrative therapy approach, I work to move beyond simply coping with triggers and focus on rewriting the stories our past tells us everyday. Our traumas and histories do not have to bookmark our story. They can be used to rebuild a sense of meaning and purpose and allow us to live the life we desire.
“When we don't feel safe in our bodies, we live in our heads"
Have you ever been told, “just think positively!”
When we experience emotional overwhelm, our nervous system takes over and tells our brain how we’re going to think. This is why simply “thinking positively” won’t be effective.
I take body-focused approach to coping with anxiety, depression, and emotional dysregulation to address mental health concerns at the roots: our nervous system.
"It is not our differences that divide us. It is our inability to recognize, accept, and celebrate those differences."
As a social worker, I’m dedicated to recognizing and addressing power imbalances and systemic inequalities in our society through our therapy work. My aim is to ensure therapy is inclusive, respectful, and sensitive to your unique experiences, creating a supportive environment of advocacy where you can heal and flourish. I strive to provide a safe space where you feel empowered and understood, while also acknowledging the various forms of oppression impacting your life including racial inequity, xenophobia, sexual or gender-based violence, and ongoing effects of colonialism.
